Getting your learners and provisional drivers licenses is an exciting time period in any young Australian's life, and it is one that offers a lot of freedom and new responsibility. While that means taking it in for regular services, it also means paying attention to your tyres. Automotive tyres do not last forever, even though you might not recall your parents replacing theirs for many years. Here are a few ways you, as a beginner driver, can spot some tell-tale signs that you need new tyres.

Fading Pattern

Virtually all tyres will come with a type of patterned grip on the outside to allow them to better hold onto the road in wet and slippery conditions. This is known as the tread, and when it begins to wear down, the car will no longer feel as secure on the road. Sometimes you will feel this change before you see it, especially if you take a sharp corner a little too fast. Every couple of months you should have a look at your tyre's tread, and if you can clearly see that it is starting to blend into nothingness, then you need new automotive tyres. 

Uneven Drive

Sometimes cars will have had their tyres replaced at different times, such as when one tyre becomes flat due to a sharp rock or debris on the road. If this is the case, the unevenness of the tyres can cause your car to feel a little uneven as you drive. It is always best to try to keep all of your tyres at the same level of freshness, but if you can't, then make sure to not ignore the feeling of an unnatural drive. If you can tell your car drifts or slightly leans one way without you touching the steering wheel, it is time to get new tyres.

Differing Conditions

Not every tyre is suitable for every environment. If you live on a more rural property, then you need heavier-duty tyres that can withstand grass, gravel and dirt more than your average on-road tyres will be able to. Think about where you mainly drive and get tyres that are best suited for those conditions. If you are buying a car from someone else, make sure that if the tyres are not appropriate for you, that you change them out.
